My Biodiversity Exploration


Hong Kong’s nature is gorgeous and enchanting. Did our kids have any exciting exploration experiences in it? Try to create a drawing under the theme “My Biodiversity Exploration” to share the most memorable story from their journey in Hong Kong’s nature. They can also use their creativity and paintbrush to share their imaginative journey of biodiversity exploration in Hong Kong!

Eligibility

     Children aged 3 to 12 can participate and will be divided into three categories:

Awards in Each Category:

Champion (1 winner): HKD 800 book voucher, a set of “Nature and Living” Teaching and Learning Resource Package, and a certificate for each winner
First Runner-up (1 winner): HKD 500 book voucher, a set of “Nature and Living” Teaching and Learning Resource Package, and a certificate for each winner
Second Runner-up (1 winner):HKD 200 book voucher, a set of “Nature and Living” Teaching and Learning Resource Package, and a certificate for each winner
Merit Awards (5 winners): A set of “Nature and Living” Teaching and Learning Resource Package, and a certificate for each winner
Most Popular Award* (1 winner): 

A set of “Nature and Living” Teaching and Learning Resource Package, and a certificate for each winner

*The award will be determined through a Facebook voting.

Additional awards “Best Participation Awards (Kindergarten)” and “Best Participation Awards (Primary School)” will be given, with 3 winners each. Each winner will receive a set of “Nature and Living” Teaching and Learning Resource Package, and a certificate. All participants who successfully enter the competition will receive an electronic certificate of recognition.

 

Criteria

   The competition will be judged by a panel of professionals, and the criteria include:

  • Content – Relevance to the theme and representation of Hong Kong’s biodiversity (40%)
  • Creativity – Amusement value and originality (30%)
  • Artistry – Composition, drawing, and colouring techniques (30%)

The competition will be judged by a panel of professionals, and the criteria include: Content (40%), Creativity (30%) and Artistry (30%).

Award Ceremony & Exhibition

Winners will be invited to attend the "My Biodiversity Exploration" Drawing Competition Award Ceremony, and their artworks will be exhibited at the "Biodiversity Explorer" Exhibition and Festival, as well as on the project's website.

Individual Registration

  1. Complete the online registration form
  2. Each submitted artwork must have the completed artwork label affixed, or have the student’s name, competition category, and artwork description (if applicable) clearly written on the back. 
  3. Please submit the physical artwork in person or by mail to: 14/F, Hong Kong Baptist University (Shek Mun Campus), 8 On Muk Street, Shek Mun, Shatin (Attention: Miss Mimi Wong). 
    • If choosing to submit the artwork in person, please make an appointment with Ms Mimi Wong in advance (34113329, mimiwong@hkbu.edu.hk).
    • If choosing to submit the artwork by mail, please clearly mark on the envelope: “Hong Kong Drawing Competition – My Biodiversity Exploration 
  4. After receiving the artworks, the School will contact the parents/guardians via email for confirmation.

Group Registration

  1. Complete the online registration form for all participants within the group, and submit the group registration form together.
  2. Each submitted artwork must have the completed artwork label affixed, or have the student’s name, competition category, and artwork description (if applicable) clearly written on the back. 
  3. Please submit the physical artwork in person or by mail to: 14/F, Hong Kong Baptist University (Shek Mun Campus), 8 On Muk Street, Shek Mun, Shatin (Attention: Ms Mimi Wong).

  4. After receiving the artworks, the School will contact the teacher in charge via email for confirmation. 

Terms and Conditions  

  • Participants can choose to register either individually or as a group. Both are required to complete the registration form and submit their physical artwork.
  •  The competition artwork must be no less than 21cm x 29.7cm (A4) and no larger than 29.7cm x 42cm (A3).
  • Participants can use any medium, painting style, or tools for their artwork, including Chinese painting, watercolour, sketching, crayons, and pen drawings. However, computer painting is not accepted.
  • The competition artworks must be personally created by the participants themselves, and parents or teachers are not allowed to create the artwork on behalf of participants. However, they can participate in discussing the content and providing technical guidance
  • All artworks, participants’ names, competition categories, and artwork descriptions will be uploaded to Facebook for voting purposes. 
  • Each participant can submit only one artwork.
  • Submitted artworks will not be returned. After receiving the artworks, the School will email contact the parents/guardians/teacher in charge for confirmation.
  • Participants must submit the physical artwork before the deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted. The submission date will be based on the postmark date shown on the envelope.
  • The copyright of all submitted artworks belongs to the School. The School has the right to use the artworks for any promotion, exhibition, and printing purposes without prior consent or payment of any copyright fees.
  • Participants found to have infringed any other commercial or non-commercial copyrights will be disqualified, and any copyright infringement issues will be unrelated to the School.
  • The competition artworks must be personally created by the participants themselves, and parents or teachers are not allowed to create the artwork on behalf of participants. However, they can participate in discussing the content and providing technical guidance.
  • Participants should ensure that the submitted artwork does not contain any offensive, defamatory, indecent, racially misunderstood, or discriminatory content.
  • The competition results are based on the decision of the judging panel, and participants must abide by and respect the School’s judging results without objection.
  • The School is not responsible for any damage or loss of physical artworks during the judging period or transportation.
  • The School reserves the right to revise the competition rules, terminate, or disqualify participants without further notice.
  • Submitting the registration form indicates agreement and understanding of the above terms and conditions.
  • In case of any disputes, the School reserves the final decision-making authority.
  • The personal information provided by participants will only be used for competition-related communication and information dissemination.
  • Collection of personal data adheres to the Privacy Policy Statement / Personal Information Collection Statement (PPS/PICS) of the Hong Kong Baptist University (the “University”).
